Le Dernier Cri: Remembrance of Things Past…

Le Dernier Cri: Remembrance of Things Past…January 2011

One of our favorite shops is Crème de la Crème which is nestled on a quiet corner where Route 50 slows down West of Washington, D.C. and passes through Middleburg, VA. At the helm is their Creative Director Manuel Simpson who never disappoints with the evocative tableaux he designs for the shop. We asked Manuel to put his creative juices to work for CLOVER. Here, Manuel was inspired by REMEMBRANCES OF THINGS PAST and Marcel Proust’s musings on madelines and lemon curds. The table is photographed by Nickie Stephenson who is the tip-top secret source for vintage couture. Her shop Timmie Jane is located just across the street from Crème de la Crème. Continue up the block for one-of-a-kind children’s clothing at Bridgit Wilson’s shop, The Magic Wardrobe. Meanwhile, Cheryl Dehaven Johnson has moved up the road to Winchester. Her shop, Windrow, stops even the most jaded design insiders in their tracks. She specializes in highly unique antiques for home and garden, objects by artisans, and emerging art. Make the drive – you won’t be sorry. Call 540.327.6288 for directions.
