Dear Readers

Welcome to CLOVER VOLUME V! We are now well into of our first year of publication and we can’t thank you enough for all of the positive feedback and support you’ve generated. I am a great lover of the printed word, an avid reader and curious follower of news, editorials, blogs and pop culture. I love to hold books and magazines in my hand and my preferred method of browsing the internet is sitting at my desk in front of a big screen with my dog Topsy curled up beside me in a basket of mittens and hats (mostly fur). I like to read the morning papers at the kitchen table with a big mug of coffee brewed from my standard-issue coffee maker. My hands flutter when a heavy-stock, engraved card, note or invitation arrives via post of all places — Quel Surprise! I respond and circle the word yes in the upper right corner and then tack it up in my office to appreciate and anticipate. I keep my appointments in a leather bound Agenda my Father sends me every year for Christmas. I could go on about messages on Christmas cards or school recitals that modify the words of carols but Andy Rooney I am not.

Though I travel a lot and know owning a kindle would be a logical choice, I insist on lugging my stash of reading materials around in my non-rolling, carry-on bag. I just received an ipad for Christmas and am hopeful that this will make me more technologically hip, at least in the eyes of my daughters. I feel no shame in declaring myself old-fashioned, a traditionalist, a creature of habit though it does make me wonder how I ever came to launch an online magazine. What I do know for certain is that I’m glad I followed my instincts and did so. Doing the research, laying out photos, working with my incredible team of contributors and writing the copy has brought me hours of enjoyment and inspiration.

I also love quotes and as Roy Rogers once said, “even if you are on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.” He also maintained, “if you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.” Thank you Mr. Rogers! CLOVER is as much about moving forward with the world as it is about point of view. Stay tuned as we strive to challenge ourselves and deliver the most succinct and informed news on design, art, fashion, and culture. And, as always, won’t you please be in touch.

All the best,
