Cullman & Kravis’ “Dinner at “Eight”
Passion and talent conspire in Ellie Cullman’s dining room at the 38th Annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House in New York. A dedicated foodie whose family owns the renowned Peter Luger steakhouse in Brooklyn, Cullman honors the great chefs of NYC: Mario Batali, April Bloomfield, Daniel Boulud, David Chang, Anita Lo, Eric Ripert, Michael Romano, and Marcus Samuelson. The art of cooking is complimented by “art about food” including a classic Joel Meyerowitz city streetscape of an NYC deli and “Homework Tower” by Studio Job, composed of a cast bronze tower of cooking pots. A library of gastronomic books fills the bookshelves, where signature photos of the chefs are placed. Design aficionados will covet the Venetian stucco walls overwashed with a transparent layer of gold, and an aluminum leafed soffit. www.cullmankravis.com

Sherrill Canet’s “The Front Room”
Never one to shy away from bold and sexy, Sherrill Canet effortlessly combines Yves Klein blue walls (Benjamin Moore #798 “Blue Suede Shoe”) painted in a subtle stripe with sandy white fabrics from Stark/Old World Weavers and custom pillows from Carol Davis Waitzkin Designs. A show-stopping flame-stitch rug, also from Stark, in flinty grays anchors the floor. Contemporary art intermingles with antiques from Newel, Iliad, and Kentshire. www.sherrillcanet.com

Elizabeth Pyne for McMillen Plus’ “Room for Daydream”
Elizabeth Pyne’s room was inspired by her love of daydream and pays homage to her two grandmothers: Betty Sherrill and Evelyn Sloane Pyne, whose 1930’s portrait by Bernard Boutet de Monvel hangs above the day bed. Similar in scale to the “petites apartements” that came into vogue during the reign of Louis XV, Marie Antoinette could have retreated here as easily as one of Pyne’s McMillen Plus client’s could today. The walls are covered in Osborne & Little’s “Walk in the Park: Sherwood” and the daybed from Charles H. Beckley is upholstered in “Bedford Herringbone Plain/Aqua and “Birches/Blue” from F. Schumacher & Co. www.mcmilleninc.com

Nancy Boszhardt’s “The Landing”
What makes Nancy Boszhardt’s treasure trove of a space so enchanting is her careful attention to detail. Richly sophisticated, the walls are covered in custom shagreen wall panels from Laszlo. Silk taffeta curtains, made by Schneller & Sons, reminiscent of a ladies’ ball gown adorn the passageways. Boszhardt’s 1940’s Grosfield House chairs are embroidered by Penn and Fletcher in her signature motif. www.nancyboszhardt.com
